More Woods

More woods photos, I thought I’d revisit the same place with my SLR this time. Interestingly I struggled to get such good pictures as on my previous visit.

The Wide View

I’m never 100% convinced about very wide angle lenses, the results of using them can be very striking but they do give such and exaggerated perspective that the images can look ridiculous. I think I’m coming around to the belief that 18mm on a full frame sensor (12mm on a crop sensor) is the ideal wide angle length.

Dead Lilies

I’m not sure this quite lived up to expectations. I do think the textures of dead and dying flowers can be very beautiful but I’m not sure I did the best job of capturing them here.

Garden Photos

I bought the IGPOTY book a while back and it inspired these photos. It really is worth getting, it has a very broad range of photographs in it and really is quite inspiring.

Childhood Lost

I took this photo at 10pm in the evening in an underpass. I think passers by must have wondered what the hell I was doing. I guess you can take it as slightly tongue in cheek but I felt it had a certain resonance.

More Still Life

Some friends bought these lilies for me. It may seem a little macabre but white lilies are my favourite flowers, I love the texture and form of them. So inevitably I photographed them.

Sunset

An absolutely beautiful day, I just couldn’t resist going out with my camera to photograph the evening light. I find this time of day so tranquil.
